The Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike, has issued a passionate call to Nigerians across all 774 local government areas to set aside partisan considerations and rally behind the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, citing the growing infrastructure footprint of the Federal Government in the South-East as evidence of the benefits of collaboration and constructive leadership.
Azubuike made the call on Wednesday in Awka, the Anambra State capital, while highlighting what he described as the transformative impact of the cordial working relationship between President Tinubu and Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. According to the council boss, this partnership has created unprecedented opportunities for the state to attract strategic federal projects, investments, and development initiatives that would otherwise have been difficult to secure.
The chairman reeled off a list of federal interventions in Anambra State that he said should convince residents of the benefits of supporting the President's re-election bid. These include the Second Niger Bridge and the ongoing 17-kilometre dualised access road; the approved dualisation of the 108-kilometre Otuocha-Anam-Abaji Road; the 150-kilometre Oba-Nnewi-Uga-Ihube/Okigwe Junction Road; the nine-kilometre extension of the Benin-Asaba Expressway to the Second Niger Bridge; and the rehabilitation of the First Niger Bridge.
Azubuike provided further details on the First Niger Bridge rehabilitation, noting that the project includes the replacement of vandalised structural components, as well as the installation of solar-powered streetlights and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras to enhance security. He described these projects as strategic investments that would strengthen connectivity, facilitate trade, and boost economic activities in the state.
"These projects are evidence that when the state and federal governments work together, our people stand to benefit. We must continue to encourage cooperation that will bring more development, investment and opportunities to Anambra," Azubuike said.
The council chairman urged Ndi Anambra to look beyond partisan considerations and remain united behind Governor Soludo's development agenda while supporting President Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. He argued that continuity, cooperation, and constructive engagement were critical to achieving sustainable development. "The future we desire requires partnership, not unnecessary confrontation. Let us support development, strengthen the relationship between Anambra State and the Federal Government, and give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the opportunity to continue the work in 2027," he added.
Azubuike expressed optimism that greater collaboration between the Federal and State Governments would accelerate infrastructure development, economic growth, security, investment, and opportunities for Nigerians. He urged progressive forces across the country to continue working together towards building a more connected and prosperous Nigeria.
The call from the Orumba South chairman aligns with a broader wave of political realignment in Anambra State ahead of the 2027 elections. Governor Soludo has previously declared his support for President Tinubu's re-election, with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) formally adopting Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 polls. The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has also formally endorsed President Tinubu for a second term, with party leaders expressing confidence in delivering a significant portion of the state's votes for the President.
While the political landscape in the South-East remains complex, with former Governor Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) also expected to contest the 2027 presidential election, Azubuike's appeal represents a concerted effort by pro-Tinubu forces to build a broad coalition in a region where the President has historically faced electoral challenges. The emphasis on infrastructure development as a basis for political support reflects a strategic attempt to shift the conversation from ethnic and partisan considerations to tangible development outcomes.
