The Nigerian Air Force has officially commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise for Airmen and Airwomen under the Basic Military Training Course 47/2026. The online registration portal opened on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and will remain active until Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The application is completely free of charge, and the NAF has issued a stern warning to applicants against paying anyone for assistance. All applications must be submitted through the official NAF recruitment portal.
The recruitment is open to two main categories: Tradesmen and Women, who possess professional or technical qualifications such as ND or NCE, and Non-Tradesmen and Women, who are applying with their secondary school qualifications. Applicants for the Trades category must be between 18 and 27 years old by March 1, 2027, while those in the Non-Trades category must be between 18 and 22 years old by the same date. All applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, meet minimum height requirements of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females, and be medically, physically, and psychologically fit.
For Tradesmen and Women, applicants must possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB, or NBAIS. ND or NCE certificates must be from accredited institutions, and applicants for driving and other trades requiring a Trade Test must possess the relevant certificate. For Non-Tradesmen and Women, a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, is required, along with a Primary School Certificate and Secondary School Testimonial.
To apply, candidates must visit the official NAF recruitment portal, read all guidelines carefully, and complete the online application with accurate personal and educational information. Multiple applications or the submission of false information can lead to disqualification. After submission, applicants are required to print all documents generated by the portal, including the Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form, and Local Government Area Attestation Form.
The Local Government Area Attestation Form must be signed by one of the following officials from the applicant's state of origin: a military officer not below the rank of Wing Commander (or equivalent), a police officer not below the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, a substantive Local Government Chairman or Secretary, or a Magistrate. The form must carry the applicant's passport photograph and a photocopy of the signatory's driver's licence, National ID Card, or international passport.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a zonal general aptitude test, with the test date to be announced through the recruitment portal. The NAF has warned applicants to rely solely on its official channels and to beware of fraudsters demanding money to process applications, as the recruitment is free and the service does not use agents.
