Senator Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam Madori, representing Jigawa North-East Senatorial District, has officially flagged off the construction of a 1,200-capacity international-standard multipurpose conference centre in Hadejia, Jigawa State, marking a significant infrastructure milestone under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. The project, sited on the former prison premises in Hadejia, is designed to transform the historic town into a regional hub for conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional engagements, addressing a long-standing deficit in modern event facilities in the area.
Speaking during the foundation-laying ceremony, Senator Madori, represented by the former Deputy Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly and Special Adviser to Governor Umar Namadi on Small Town Water Supply, Hon. Adamu Ibrahim Gira, emphasized that the intervention was part of his broader efforts to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to his constituents. According to the senator, the project is intended to upgrade Hadejia with modern facilities that meet international standards, enhancing the city's capacity to host major events and professional gatherings. "This infrastructure intervention is aimed at strengthening the town's capacity to host conferences, professional engagements, community programmes and other large-scale activities," Gira stated on behalf of the senator.
The multipurpose centre is designed as a comprehensive facility featuring a 1,200-capacity main conference hall, a 682-square-metre main hall, stage and auditorium seating, 12 accommodation rooms, a VIP lounge, a mini conference room, a reception courtyard, an entrance porch, prayer and ablution facilities, offices, and other functional spaces. The design reflects a deliberate effort to create a one-stop venue capable of accommodating a wide range of events, from high-level government meetings and international conferences to community gatherings and training programmes. The inclusion of accommodation facilities and a VIP lounge positions the centre to attract regional and national events that would otherwise bypass Hadejia due to inadequate infrastructure.
Senator Madori disclosed that the conference centre is one of several development projects being facilitated under his constituency representation in Jigawa North-East Senatorial District. He listed other interventions, including support for the establishment and development of a police training institution, federal education projects, and other constituency-based infrastructure aimed at improving access to government services and opportunities. All these projects, he said, are in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and are designed to address some of the infrastructure and socio-economic needs of the people. The senator assured residents of Hadejia that the conference centre would be completed within five months and made available for use, a timeline that reflects his determination to deliver tangible results within his tenure.
The Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maji, represented by the Galadiman Hadejia, Alhaji Usman Abdulaziz Zakar, commended the senator for initiating the project, describing it as a people-oriented intervention that would provide Hadejia with a modern venue for conferences, seminars, capacity-building programmes, community engagements, and other important activities. The Emir called on other elected representatives to emulate initiatives capable of delivering lasting benefits to their constituents, noting that the conference centre would add to the growing number of development interventions attributed to Senator Madori across the Jigawa North-East Senatorial District. He prayed for the successful and timely completion of the project, emphasizing that such facilities are critical to the socio-economic development of communities.
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Hon. Abdullahi Dukuma, commended Senator Madori for supporting development priorities that complement the 12-point agenda of the state government under Governor Umar Namadi. Dukuma described the project as an example of development-oriented representation and reaffirmed the party's commitment to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and socio-economic prospects of the people.
