Super Eagles legend Daniel Amokachi has added another significant feather to his coaching cap after successfully completing the Confederation of African Football (CAF) A coaching licence course in Morocco, a qualification that now makes him eligible to manage teams competing at the highest levels of African club football.
The former Nigerian international, popularly known as 'The Bull,' announced the achievement in a Facebook post on Wednesday, expressing gratitude to the Moroccan Football Federation for the opportunity. "Finally CAF A In The Bag. Thank U Moroccan Football Federation, For The Opportunity," he wrote.
Amokachi, 53, was part of a select group of coaches who underwent the intensive training programme in Agadir, Morocco, alongside 29 other African coaches, including 25 former top-level Moroccan players. The course was organised by the Direction Technique Nationale (DTN) in collaboration with the Ligue Régionale Souss-Massa.
The CAF A licence is one of the advanced coaching qualifications issued under CAF's coaching education structure and provides holders with the credentials required to work at a high level within African football. With this qualification now secured, Amokachi can pursue more prominent coaching opportunities, including positions with leading clubs involved in CAF competitions.
Amokachi enjoyed an illustrious playing career with the Nigerian national team, featuring prominently during one of the most successful periods in the history of the Super Eagles. The former Everton and Club Brugge forward was part of Nigeria's squad that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and also represented the country at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups. He was renowned for his strength, determination, and powerful attacking play.
Following his playing career, Amokachi moved into coaching and technical roles, gaining experience both in Nigeria and abroad. He has previously worked as an assistant coach with the Super Eagles and served as head coach of Nasarawa United, Enyimba, and Ifeanyi Ubah, as well as Finnish club JS Hercules. He also managed the Nigerian national team on an interim basis from 2014 to 2015. More recently, he was appointed Technical Adviser of Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, though he resigned from that position in June 2026.
The development is also significant for Nigerian football, as the country continues to produce former internationals who are building careers in coaching and technical management. For Amokachi, the CAF A licence adds formal recognition to years of football experience and could open the door to new opportunities on the African club football scene. The Super Eagles legend is now officially better equipped for the next chapter of his coaching journey.
