The Kaduna State Government has reviewed the official dress code for public servants as part of renewed efforts to strengthen discipline, professionalism, and decorum in the State Public Service.
The directive, issued by the Head of Service, reflects government’s commitment to restoring dignity in the workplace and projecting a culture of responsibility in the discharge of official duties. It builds upon the provisions of the 2009 circular and aligns with the Public Service Rules, which prohibit officers from appearing in any attire considered inappropriate or immodest while on duty.
The circular emphasizes the vital role of senior officers in leading by example through proper dressing that demonstrates decency and guides subordinates. It warns that lapses will attract sanctions as part of measures to curb the growing trend of improper dressing across government offices.
By the new policy, public servants are expected to appear in corporate, modest, and fashionable attire befitting their roles, while heads of ministries, departments, and agencies have been directed to ensure strict enforcement across the state.
The Kaduna State Government noted that this review is not merely about appearances but about instilling values of discipline, professionalism, and respect, which are essential for effective service delivery and the overall image of the public service.
