Edo Migration Agency DG Warns Against Fake Living, Urges Parents to Guard Children

The Director General of the Edo State Migration Agency (EDMA), Hon. Chief Lucky Agazuma, has identified fake living and the pursuit of unrealistic lifestyles as one of the root causes of irregular migration. He therefore urged parents to be vigilant in guiding their children and wards to avoid becoming victims of exploitation.

Agazuma made the remarks when he received a delegation from the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) who paid him a courtesy visit at the agency’s headquarters in Benin City. Welcoming the visitors, the DG emphasized that while he is not opposed to individuals seeking opportunities abroad, such aspirations must be pursued through legal and regulated channels. He disclosed that he has held discussions with several embassies in Abuja on ways to better manage irregular migration and create safer pathways for those intending to travel.

He noted that the lure of a false lifestyle often misleads young people into dangerous decisions, stressing that greater awareness and parental involvement are crucial in curbing the menace.

On her part, NTA reporter Mrs. Omokor Elizabeth commended the Director General for his hospitality and for the innovative programs introduced under his leadership at EDMA. She explained that their visit was to seek clarifications on recent developments relating to migration matters. She was accompanied by her colleague, Mr. Osagie Osunbor.
