Nigeria to Assume Chairmanship of G-24 in November 2025

Nigeria is set to take over the chairmanship of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four (G-24) from Argentina, officially assuming office on 1 November 2025. The country plans to unveil its Work Programme after consultations with relevant stakeholders.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to strengthening the G-24 as a platform for inclusive dialogue and global economic reform. Cardoso highlighted that Nigeria aims to sustain momentum on issues critical to member countries while advancing shared goals of inclusive growth, equity, and global stability.

He emphasized that under Nigeria’s leadership, the G-24 will continue to serve as a key forum for representing the common interests of emerging and developing economies, reinforcing its role as a significant voice in international economic discussions.
