In a major step toward equipping young Nigerian women with essential skills for professional success, NNPC Limited/SNEPCo PSC, in collaboration with Ascent Club and the University of Lagos (UNILAG), hosted the inaugural Career Clinic: “Career Readiness Skills for the Real World.”
Held on October 11, 2025, the event brought together 150 final-year female students from various faculties for an intensive day of mentorship, leadership development, and practical career guidance aimed at bridging the gap between academic training and real-world employability.
Delivering the keynote speech, Nkechi Anaedobe, Head of Business Services at NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), described the initiative as a powerful way to give back through mentorship — a value that shaped her own professional journey.
“Mentoring does a lot for the individual, the company, and society at large. It’s a tool that’s never too late to learn to use,” she said. “This event was a testament to the joy and impact of collaboration, with a shared vision of what good looks like.”
Throughout the day, participants engaged in interactive sessions led by industry experts from NNPC Limited, SNEPCo, and other corporate leaders, addressing critical topics such as employability skills, personal branding, leadership growth, and mentorship principles.
The program offered students practical tools to navigate today’s competitive job market, instill confidence, and pursue success — particularly in STEM and technical fields, where female representation remains limited.
Building on the success of the Top 100 Career Women in Africa Initiative launched earlier this year, the Career Clinic further strengthened the collective mission to prepare more women for leadership, innovation, and impact in the workforce.
Many attendees described the experience as “transformative and empowering,” citing how direct engagement with mentors helped clarify their goals and boosted their confidence to take on professional challenges.
Organizers affirmed that the Career Clinic will become an annual mentorship platform, deepening partnerships between academia and industry to nurture female talent and foster a more inclusive workforce in Nigeria.
