Edo State’s push for digital empowerment has recorded another milestone as 100 residents successfully graduated from a Data Analysis training programme with Power BI. The initiative, organised by the Edo State Information Communications Technology Agency (ICTA) in partnership with Sidol Solutions Nigeria Limited and the PIP Community, was held at the ICTA Head Office in Benin City.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of ICTA, Mr. Eghosa Urhoghide, described the programme as part of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s vision to equip citizens with globally relevant technological skills. He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to promoting digital literacy across the State.

“We have a Governor who understands the value of ICT and is determined to ensure Edo people are not left behind. These trainings are designed to provide children, youths, and even older citizens with in-demand skills to thrive in today’s digital world,” Urhoghide said.

He commended the partnership with Sidol Solutions and the PIP Community, noting that collaborations of this nature are essential to achieving the State’s digital agenda. He also assured that the ICTA will continue to expand the scope of training to cover more platforms and skill sets.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Corporate Change, Communication and Performance Management, Mrs. Joy Akigbe, noted that the State Government is not only regulating the sector but also actively facilitating technological growth. She stressed that the administration is deliberately building capacity to prepare citizens for success in a technology-driven society.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Johnathan Ukpebor, praised the training as both timely and impactful, describing it as crucial for preparing citizens for the realities of the digital economy.

Participants lauded the programme, describing it as a life-changing opportunity that would shape their career paths. The graduation ceremony climaxed with a hackathon, where winners and runners-up received cash rewards — a demonstration of the government’s commitment to nurturing innovation and creativity.
