The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has announced a partnership with the Federal Government–Technical Working Group (FG-TWG) on Sustainable Development and Safety Net to empower Nigerian women, youths, and children through a proposed Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre.
The collaboration was discussed when the FG-TWG delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, in Abuja on Monday, August 25, 2025.
Leader of the delegation, Dr. M.A. Ibrahim, mni, who is the Executive Director and Project Coordinator, explained that the initiative—named the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre—is designed to nurture exceptionally gifted Nigerian youths, women, and children. He noted that the Centre would serve as a world-class incubation hub, positioning Nigeria at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and other emerging technologies.
“AI and emerging technologies are powerful enablers of development and employment. With the right investment, Nigeria can harness this opportunity to empower its people,” Dr. Ibrahim stated.
The centre will be domiciled at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), leveraging its nationwide presence to reach beneficiaries across the country. It is named in honour of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in recognition of her commitment to human development, particularly in empowering women, youths, and children.
Dr. Ibrahim revealed that the initiative was developed in consultation with the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), NOUN, and other stakeholders, with the Ministry appointed as the line ministry for the project. He called for the Ministry’s continued support and guidance to ensure its success.
In his response, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu commended the delegation, describing the project as timely and impactful. He pledged the Ministry’s full cooperation, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to poverty reduction through innovation and technology.
