Over 1,300 students have applied for a scholarship programme sponsored by the Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Isa Miqdad, at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic.

The special screening exercise, which held at the school’s Skills Acquisition Hall, saw 1,354 students sit for evaluation, though only 100 will eventually secure the grant for this semester. School authorities and the committee in charge supervised the process to ensure that only the most qualified candidates were selected.

This development comes shortly after Hon. Miqdad sponsored another set of 100 students at the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) to undergo ICT training.

Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Miqdad said the scholarships are targeted at young people from financially challenged backgrounds, stressing that education remains key to youth empowerment and community development. He pledged that the local government would continue to invest in education to open up opportunities for future generations.
