Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has launched another ambitious Guinness World Record attempt, this time aiming to set a global record for the largest Jollof rice cook.
At the venue in Lagos, Baci is leading preparations to cook a staggering 250 bags of rice in a gigantic pot measuring six meters in both width and height, with an extraordinary capacity of 22,619 liters.
The event, which is part of the World Jollof Festival, has already attracted huge attention. More than 20,000 people have registered to witness the historic cook-off, with many already present at the location to show support.
This latest culinary challenge comes after Hilda Baci’s previous Guinness World Record triumph in June 2023, when she set the record for the longest individual cooking marathon. That record was later broken by Irish chef Alan Fisher, but Baci’s latest quest is set to once again put Nigeria in the global spotlight.
With excitement building, food lovers and supporters are anticipating a spectacular event that could rewrite history while celebrating one of West Africa’s most iconic dishes.
