Bayelsa, 09/10/2025 – In a decisive move against illegal oil activities, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH discovered and deactivated an illegal refinery site on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, in Okordia Community, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The operation, codenamed “Operation DELTA SANITY,” uncovered three underground storage pits containing products suspected to be stolen crude oil. The refinery site was located at Latitude 5.17736739°N and Longitude 6.44283303°E.
Authorities confirmed that the Navy acted swiftly to secure the site and neutralize the illegal operations, demonstrating its continued commitment to combating crude oil theft and environmental degradation in the Niger Delta region.
The Nigerian Navy reiterated its resolve to protect national assets, enforce maritime and coastal security, and safeguard communities from the economic and ecological impacts of illegal refining activities.
