Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully thwarted a bandit attack in Taraba State, reinforcing their ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.

On October 9, 2025, soldiers stationed at Tapga Ngasawa Village received credible intelligence from residents around Majebiyu Village, Ibi Local Government Area, indicating that a group of armed men had invaded the community, discharging firearms, vandalising properties, and seizing motorcycles and other valuables from locals.

Responding immediately, the troops mobilised to the scene and engaged the assailants. On sighting the advancing soldiers, the armed men retreated into nearby bushland, reportedly sustaining gunshot wounds in the process.

A follow-up search and clearance operation recovered five dane guns and two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing bandits, preventing further criminal activity in the area.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, lauded the troops for their professionalism, bravery, and prompt response, reiterating the Brigade’s commitment to eliminating illegally acquired arms and ensuring such weapons do not endanger communities.

In a statement, the Nigerian Army urged citizens to remain law-abiding and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations aimed at sustaining peace across Taraba State.
