Residents of Tudun Yola in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State have been plunged into grief following the brutal murder of two women whose home was set on fire by unknown assailants. The victims, identified as Hauwa’u Yakubu and Zahra’u Aliyu, were both wives of Alhaji Ashiru Shu’aibu Usaini.

Reports indicate that the attackers stabbed the first wife before igniting the house, reducing it to ashes. The shocking discovery was made by the family late at night. A stepson, Anas Shu’aibu, recounted: “We didn’t realise anything was wrong until my father called me at night, asking me to come home. When we got there, we found the burnt body of one of them while the other was stuck in the bathroom. When we finally managed to break down the door, we found her dead as well.”

Initially, the family believed the tragedy was the result of an accidental fire. However, further investigation revealed that the incident was deliberate, leading to the death of both women. Alhaji Ashiru expressed his deep sorrow, praying for the souls of his late wives. “They killed my wives and then set one of the bodies on fire. I still don’t know why they carried out this wicked act,” he lamented, appealing to security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.

The Kano State Police confirmed the incident. CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, spokesperson for the state command, said investigations are ongoing as authorities work to identify and arrest those responsible for the killings.

The tragic attack has heightened fears among residents, who are calling on law enforcement to act swiftly and prevent further incidents.
