A violent confrontation between rival armed bandit groups in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State turned deadly on Friday evening.

Residents have confirmed that Isihu Faisal, a notorious bandit linked to multiple attacks and intimidation across Gundawa, Fanteka, Damawa, Tudu, Wawal-kaza, Masaurari, Tugen Ziri, Tugen Na Alma, Babban Duhu, and Dayi axis, was killed along with his mother. Faisal had long been considered a key figure orchestrating attacks in the region.

According to sources, the strike was carried out by Kamilu Buzaro, a rival bandit leader, in retaliation for the killing of his son by Faisal on Thursday.

Locals have described the incident as a rare moment of relief, noting that internal disputes among bandit factions appear to be disrupting their operations and reducing coordinated attacks in some areas.

Security analysts caution, however, that such clashes, while temporarily weakening the criminal networks, could also lead to further instability as factions vie for control of territories.
