Kwaren Ganuwa, Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State – Tragedy struck farmers in Kwaren Ganuwa on the outskirts of Tsafe Local Government Area this afternoon when armed bandits launched a deadly raid, killing two farmers and abducting five others.

The attack is part of a growing wave of insecurity in the area. Just last week, the same bandits reportedly demanded nearly ₦50 million from residents of Kwaren Ganuwa and neighbouring villages as a condition to allow farmers access to their crops. The escalating pattern of extortion and violence has left local farmers living in fear, with many too afraid to venture into their farmlands.

Security analysts warn that these attacks have broader national implications. Disruption of farming activities threatens food security, drives up market prices, and deepens Nigeria’s economic challenges. Rural communities under siege are now facing escalating risks not only to personal safety but also to livelihoods that support the nation’s food supply.

The incident underscores the urgent need for coordinated government and security interventions to protect vulnerable rural communities and restore stability to Zamfara’s farming regions.
