Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has launched a fresh attack on ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as “very irresponsible.” The renewed criticism comes only days after Obasanjo publicly announced that he had forgiven Fayose—a move many believed was intended to end years of political hostility between the two.

But Fayose openly rejected the gesture, insisting that Obasanjo’s past comments and actions cannot be excused. He argued that the former president must still answer for what he described as unresolved controversies from his time in office, including the controversial funding of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library and other decisions he believes raise serious accountability concerns.

Fayose further accused Obasanjo of making statements that divert public attention from Nigeria’s more urgent national challenges. According to him, such remarks do not contribute to national progress but instead create unnecessary distractions.

The latest outburst suggests that despite Obasanjo’s attempt at reconciliation, the rivalry between the two political heavyweights remains far from over. Fayose’s comments indicate that the long-standing feud is still very much alive, with no sign of easing soon.
