Uyo, Akwa Ibom State – Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has terminated the appointments of two of his political aides following their participation in the recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, an act reportedly against the Governor’s direct instructions.

The affected aides are Joseph Jacob Ikpak, who served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Support Services, and Felix Ekuri, Special Assistant on Neighbourhood Watch. Both have been officially relieved of their duties with immediate effect.

A statement from the Governor’s office indicated that the decision underscores the administration’s commitment to discipline and adherence to directives within its team. It also serves as a reminder to political appointees that loyalty and compliance with the Governor’s policies and instructions are expected.

The PDP national convention in Ibadan saw various party stakeholders gather to deliberate on the party’s strategies ahead of upcoming elections. However, Governor Eno reportedly had instructed aides from Akwa Ibom not to participate in the event, making their attendance a violation of his directive.

This development marks a significant shake-up within the Governor’s political team and raises questions about the internal management of political aides in the state.
