The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has assured Nigerians that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is fully committed to fighting terrorism with increased strength and precision. He emphasized that the Air Force will confront terrorist threats head-on, using all its capabilities to keep the nation safe.

During a visit to NAF Base Maiduguri on November 17, 2025, Air Marshal Aneke declared, “We will go all out against them,” adding that the Air Force remains “fully engaged, fully committed, and fully determined” to dominate the battlefield and eliminate terrorist threats wherever they appear.

He announced plans to strengthen cooperation with ground forces and expand intelligence-led missions to improve effectiveness. The Air Force is widening its precision strikes across different regions to prevent terrorists from having any space to operate.

The Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal Paul Obeya, assured that the troops are ready to carry out the CAS’s strategic directives. He highlighted improvements in intelligence gathering, coordination with land forces, and quick-response strike capabilities.

The Air Component Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, Air Commodore MB Ahmed, briefed on recent successful strikes, ongoing interdiction efforts, and coverage of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR).

Addressing frontline personnel, the CAS praised their “resilience, courage, and professionalism,” describing them as vital in the fight against insurgency and terrorism. He reaffirmed that air operations are crucial in weakening terrorist networks and urged the troops to keep fighting from the air.

He also acknowledged their sacrifices, stating, “The nation sees your sacrifices… and stands behind you.”

Air Marshal Aneke said his visit aimed to assess the current situation, improve operational effectiveness, and support the welfare of the troops through better logistics, medical care, and allowances. He assured that the Air Force would continue to prioritize intelligence-led missions, precision targeting, joint operations, and smarter deployment of airpower.

He declared confidently, “Under my leadership, the NAF will fly smarter and strike harder.”

The CAS expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his steadfast support, saying, “The confidence Mr President has placed in us will be repaid with absolute loyalty, professionalism, and operational excellence.”

During a visit to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, he praised the “Borno Model” of security and pledged to deepen collaboration with state authorities and other stakeholders.

Reassuring Nigerians, the CAS stated: “Your Air Force will not falter, will not hesitate, and will not retreat… We will rescue our citizens, honour our fallen heroes, and defend this nation with every asset at our disposal.”

Governor Zulum also commended the Nigerian Air Force and other security services for their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property in Borno State.
