In a chilling attack on education, terrorists raided St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in Papiri community, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting an unspecified number of students and staff.

The raid occurred at night, catching the school community off guard. While the full extent of the abduction is still being assessed, sources told Daily Trust that several students were forcibly taken during the attack. A representative from the Catholic Church in Niger State confirmed the incident and revealed that the school is “compiling its records to determine the exact number of abducted persons.”

This latest assault highlights the growing insecurity in the region, particularly targeting educational institutions, and raises urgent concerns over the safety of students and teachers. Authorities are yet to provide details on ongoing rescue efforts.

The attack underscores the persistent threats faced by schools in northern Nigeria, with communities and families left anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones.
