The Niger State Police Command has successfully recovered stolen cattle from Ibeto community in Mariga Local Government Area, following a cross-state investigation that led to arrests in Lagos and Oyo.
Police launched the inquiry on November 13, 2025, after a complaint was filed regarding the rustling of several cattle from the community. Investigations by operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna revealed that the livestock had been illegally transported across state lines for resale.
Through coordinated efforts, some of the stolen animals were traced and recovered in Lagos and Oyo states, and three individuals suspected of receiving and selling the cattle were apprehended.
The operation underscores ongoing challenges of cattle rustling in Nigeria and demonstrates the commitment of security agencies to tackle livestock theft and protect communities across state borders.
