The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, made his first operational visit to the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, on Friday, November 21, 2025.
During his visit, he went to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna to see soldiers wounded in action. The COAS praised the bravery and sacrifice of these soldiers, thanking them for their service to the nation.
He assured the wounded personnel that the Nigerian Army is committed to giving them the best medical care and support to help them recover fully. Sharing his own experience, the COAS revealed that he was once admitted at the same hospital after being injured in action, showing he understands what they are going through.
Lieutenant General Shaibu urged the soldiers to follow their treatment plans carefully and assured them that the hospital’s standards and management are excellent. He also promised to continue working to improve the welfare of soldiers and their families.
The Army Chief praised the hospital’s Medical Director, Brigadier General Godwin Ogoh, and all staff for their professionalism and dedication. He was accompanied by senior officers from Army Headquarters and took a tour of the hospital to see ongoing improvements.
As part of his tour, the COAS also visited Headquarters Sub-Sector 4 along the Kaduna–Abuja Highway. There, he interacted with the troops and checked on their readiness and morale.
