Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has kicked off a new phase of rural development by launching twelve key road projects under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

This initiative aims to improve transportation, increase agricultural productivity, and foster economic growth across various local government areas in the state. The new roads include the 24-kilometer Lanzai/Papa road, the 14.45-kilometer Misau–Beti/Maladumba corridor, the 28-kilometer Gamawa–Sakwa route, and the 14.75-kilometer Dargazu/Gambaki–Chinade/Gangai link. Additionally, roads like the 6.68-kilometer Yana–Faggo and the 6.6-kilometer Giade–Tagwaye roads are part of the project.

Speaking in Gamawa, Governor Mohammed emphasized that these roads will open up new opportunities for farmers, traders, and residents who depend on them daily. He reiterated his government’s commitment to the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, saying that the selected roads reflect the genuine needs of rural communities.

The governor also thanked the Federal Government, the World Bank, and other partners for their support. He urged local residents to cooperate with contractors, safeguard construction sites, and take care of the infrastructure once completed.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Farouk Mustapha, announced that the Bauchi State government has already built 134 kilometers of rural roads under Governor Mohammed’s leadership.

The National Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr. Aminu Bodinga Mohammed, revealed that the next phase will add another 203 kilometers of roads, improving access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities. Bodinga praised the governor’s dedication and confirmed that Bauchi has invested over ₦6 billion of its own funds into the project.

This development is part of the state’s broader efforts to boost rural development, support farmers, and improve living conditions for residents across Bauchi.
