Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has announced a major breakthrough in the medical care of Abubakar Usman, a man who has been battling health issues for over seven years following a serious accident.

Abubakar was rescued by KSCHMA’s Rapid Response Team on November 21, 2025, and has since been receiving urgent medical attention at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital (MMSH). After initial diagnosis, doctors confirmed that he suffers from multiple chronic pressure ulcers, a long-standing spinal cord injury, severe anemia, and other systemic health problems.

As of November 24, 2025, Abubakar has started a critical blood transfusion to treat his severe anemia and help stabilize his condition. This vital step is part of his ongoing recovery process, with the hospital’s medical team closely monitoring his progress.

KSCHMA has fully covered all expenses for his treatment, investigations, and ongoing care, showing its commitment to providing free and accessible healthcare to vulnerable residents across Kano State. The agency’s team remains on the ground, working with doctors to ensure Abubakar receives continuous and proper medical attention.

Abubakar’s elderly mother, who spent nearly two years at Dala Orthopedic Hospital struggling to afford treatment, expressed heartfelt gratitude to KSCHMA for saving her son’s life.

This intervention underscores KSCHMA’s dedication to supporting those in need, strengthening emergency response efforts, and ensuring that no Kano resident suffers due to lack of funds or prolonged illness.

The agency’s motto, “KSCHMA Cares — One Voice, One Health, One Future,” reflects its unwavering commitment to the well-being of all residents.
