The Lagos Police Command has issued a strong warning to individuals and groups planning to participate in unapproved Egungun Festival activities. The police have emphasized that any acts that threaten public peace and violate the law will not be tolerated. Officers will be stationed at strategic locations across Lagos to ensure the safety and security of all residents and to prevent any breach of peace.

Meanwhile, the Oje Parapo of Oregun has announced that the traditional Egungun Festival for 2025/2026 will begin on November 27th, 2025. The community has been instructed that no one should be seen outside between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM on November 27th and 28th, as traditional rites and sacrifices will be performed throughout Oregun during this period. All lights are to be turned off by 10:00 PM, and both residents and visitors are warned to stay indoors during the specified hours.

The order, issued by HRM. OBA (DR) Olusesan Olukunmi Akingbola, the Olu of Oregun, aims to uphold traditional customs while maintaining public order. Anyone who ignores these directives and engages in acts that threaten peace will face immediate consequences. The Lagos Police Force reassures the public that they are committed to protecting peace and safety during this period.
