Osogbo, 26 November 2025 – In a decisive move to enhance security and prevent political violence, the Osun State Security Council convened a high-level meeting yesterday, reviewing new measures to protect lives and properties from local and external threats.
Presided over by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi and attended by all service commanders, the meeting highlighted Governor Adeleke’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Osun residents. The Deputy Governor conveyed the Governor’s commendation to security officials and called for stronger collaboration with the public, urging citizens to report suspicious activities in their communities.
Governor Adeleke also sounded a stern warning against political violence, following recent killings in Ijeshaland. He called on politicians to respect the electorate’s will and shun thuggery. “If truly our goal is to serve the people, we must focus on the ballot and free exercise of electoral choices by our people. I urge the Commissioner of Police to secure the affected areas and stop further killings,” the Governor stated.
In a related development, the state is set to introduce mobile courts, consisting of eight magistrates, to address overnight criminal activities, preliminary remand proceedings, and decongest detention facilities. The initiative, a collaboration between the executive and judicial arms of government, was approved by the Chief Judge following a request from Governor Adeleke’s legal adviser. The move aims to prevent human rights violations, ensure orderly criminal justice procedures, and strengthen the rule of law, especially amid ongoing judicial worker strikes.
The Osun State Government emphasized that these steps are part of a broader strategy to maintain peace, protect residents, and uphold the integrity of the electoral process across the state.
