Nigeria is set to welcome a historic milestone in aviation as Binani Air, a new airline, prepares to commence commercial operations next Monday. The airline will operate initial routes connecting Anambra, Lagos, Kano, Maiduguri, and Port Harcourt.

Binani Air received its Air Operating Certificate (AOC) in July 2024, officially authorizing it to begin commercial flights. The airline is owned by Senator Aishatu Binani, the richest woman in Adamawa State and the North East, who also owns the largest printing press in Northern Nigeria.

In a first for the country, Binani Air will be led by a female CEO, Aminatu Dahiru Chiroma, making it the first Nigerian airline with both a female owner and CEO. This achievement is being hailed as a historic landmark, serving as an inspiration to young girls across Nigeria that their ambitions are attainable.

This week, one of Binani Air’s E170 aircraft successfully completed a test flight, demonstrating the airline’s readiness to begin operations.

With its official launch imminent, Binani Air is expected to bring a fresh wave of innovation and empowerment to Nigeria’s aviation sector, while encouraging more women to take on leadership roles in industries traditionally dominated by men.
