The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the shocking murder of retired judge Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, whose body was discovered in her Asaba residence under disturbing circumstances. Justice Okogwu, a respected former judicial officer born in Asaba, was found dead late Sunday night at her home behind The Pointer Newspapers in Asaba.

According to police reports, her killers tied her legs and hands before ransacking her house, indicating a targeted and carefully planned attack. A major development in the investigation is the mysterious disappearance of the night security guard assigned to her residence, who vanished shortly after the incident. This has raised suspicions of possible internal involvement.

Justice Okogwu’s brother, Ogbueshi Godfrey Okogwu, revealed that the family only learned of her death on Monday morning and believes she was murdered on Sunday night. He expressed concern over the security guard’s disappearance, noting that the guard claimed to have arrived to find the gate wide open but did not explain his inaction.

The family has provided police with details of the private security company that supplied the guards. The police have detained the morning guard and summoned the security company owner, but it remains unclear if the owner has responded. The family awaits the outcome of ongoing investigations, trusting that the full truth will soon emerge.

Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed that some of the security personnel involved are in police custody, while one remains at large.
