Abuja — Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted three suspects on the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway in possession of 1,125 rounds of live 7.25mm ammunition, security sources confirmed.

The suspects were stopped during a routine patrol, and the seized ammunition was taken for further investigation. This incident comes just two days after a similar discovery on the Zaria–Funtua Expressway, where a package fell from a moving vehicle and was later found to contain live ammunition.

Authorities are investigating possible networks behind the illegal transport of weapons along major highways, raising concerns over public safety and the potential use of such arms in criminal activities.

No arrests beyond the three suspects have been reported, and security agencies are urging motorists to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
