Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has had his Facebook and Instagram accounts suspended following the release of his latest song, “Open Letter to Donald Trump.” The singer confirmed in an interview with SaharaReporters that he has been blocked from accessing both accounts since the song’s debut.

“Facebook just suspended my Facebook and Instagram account because of my new song, Open Letter to Donald Trump,” Abdulkareem said. Meta, the parent company of both platforms, has not disclosed the duration of the suspension.

Released in November 2025 under Abdulkareem’s label, Lakreem Entertainment, the song is a protest track highlighting corruption, insecurity, and governance failures in Nigeria. While framed as a message to former U.S. President Donald Trump, the lyrics primarily target Nigeria’s political elite, whom Abdulkareem describes as “criminals of all shades and hues.”

The song also addresses worsening insecurity in the country, including kidnappings, killings, and terrorism, aiming to draw international attention to the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

“Open Letter to Donald Trump” continues Abdulkareem’s tradition of politically charged music. His earlier songs, including “Jaga Jaga” and “Tell Your Papa”, similarly criticized government corruption and societal injustices, with the latter banned in April 2025 by the National Broadcasting Commission for allegedly containing objectionable lyrics.

Despite facing repeated censorship, Abdulkareem remains one of Nigeria’s most outspoken protest musicians, using his music to challenge political leaders and amplify citizens’ frustrations.
