The Imo State Government, in collaboration with the Imo Medical Mission, has announced a 10-day free medical mission aimed at expanding healthcare access and supporting vulnerable residents across the state.
According to the government, the medical outreach will be conducted across three major health facilities in Imo State—Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH), Orlu; Michael Uzodimma Hospital, Omuma in Oru East LGA; and the Special Hospital, Umuguma, Owerri.
Screening for interested beneficiaries will take place daily between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. ahead of the medical mission’s official commencement on Monday, December 8, 2025.
The mission will offer a wide range of free specialist consultations and surgical procedures, including fibroid removal, hernia repair, goitre surgery, orthopedic procedures, internal medicine consultations, ovarian cyst surgery, cataract and glaucoma treatment, neurosurgery, and other general and specialized operations.
The Imo State Government urged residents who require any of the listed services to take advantage of the free opportunity. The initiative, it said, aligns with ongoing efforts to expand quality healthcare, uplift vulnerable groups, and improve the overall well-being of Imo citizens.
