Ondo State took a significant step forward in its security campaign on Monday as Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa commissioned the new Amotekun Command and Control Centre alongside a state-of-the-art Training Auditorium in Akure. The development comes as part of the administration’s renewed commitment to safeguard lives and property under the OUR EASE agenda.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed that security remains a central pillar of his leadership, praising the Amotekun Corps for what he described as unwavering loyalty, sacrifice, and innovation. He singled out the Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, for maintaining stability across the state at a time when insecurity threatens several parts of the country.

The new facilities are expected to significantly strengthen Amotekun’s operational efficiency. The Command & Control Centre will enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response efforts, while the new Training Auditorium will provide a modern space for tactical and theoretical capacity-building.

In a bold move to expand the corps, the Governor also announced the approval of 500 additional recruits, a decision security experts at the event described as timely and necessary. Representatives from the Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, and DSS commended the administration for its consistent support, noting that such cooperation has helped sustain Ondo’s reputation as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.

The event also served as a moment of reflection, with tributes paid to the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the visionary behind the Amotekun initiative. His legacy, attendees said, continues to guide the region’s security architecture.

The maiden Annual General Meeting of the Amotekun Cooperative rounded up the ceremony, underscoring the Corps’ growing institutional structure.

As Ondo strengthens its frontline security infrastructure, the message is clear: proactive investment remains the state’s strongest defence against emerging threats.

With the new facilities and fresh recruitment drive, Ondo State signals its resolve to stay ahead of emerging security challenges. As Governor Aiyedatiwa declared, Ondo stands firm — and Ondo stands secure.
