Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Ozubulu Central Vigilante, have arrested a suspected member of a proscribed secessionist group in Ozubulu. The arrest took place on the evening of 30th November 2025 at Amakwa, following strengthened security patrols initiated by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Osuigwe, was observed behaving suspiciously and attempted to hide from the joint patrol team. A search conducted on him revealed a handcuff wound, and a handcuff was recovered in the process.
During preliminary questioning, Osuigwe allegedly admitted to being a member of the banned group and stated that he recently escaped from a criminal camp in Ukpor following a disagreement with other members. He is currently in police custody, undergoing further interrogation.
Authorities confirmed that Osuigwe has provided useful information that is assisting ongoing investigations into security threats in the state.
The Anambra State Police Command has reassured residents of its continued commitment to maintaining peace, security, and public safety across the state. Further updates on the investigation will be communicated as they become available.
