The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Oluchukwu Anyaoku after he appeared in a viral video allegedly threatening to destroy all police formations in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Police operatives attached to the Obosi Division swung into action on December 2, 2025, immediately after the video surfaced online. The suspect was tracked to his location, arrested, and taken into custody for interrogation.
During the arrest, officers recovered a firearm and a cutlass found in his possession, heightening concerns about the seriousness of his threats.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, preliminary findings suggest that the suspect may require professional medical evaluation. He noted that the police are already following the appropriate procedures to determine his mental and emotional condition.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for a comprehensive investigation and review of all information gathered so far.
The police assured residents of Obosi and the surrounding communities of their continued commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring that threats against security agencies are thoroughly investigated.
