Operatives from the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Delta State Police Command, have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu of Anambra State. The arrest took place on December 6, 2025, following actionable intelligence received by the command.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Godwin Mngumi, a security guard, was found in possession of the late Justice’s mobile phone, which was immediately recovered and entered as evidence. During police questioning, Mngumi admitted to orchestrating the attack alongside an accomplice, Nnaji Obalum, and a third individual who is currently at large.
According to police sources, Mngumi confessed to inviting Obalum and the unidentified accomplice to the residence of Justice Okogwu, where the crime was executed. Following this disclosure, Nnaji Obalum was promptly apprehended. Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched across the nation to locate and arrest the third suspect involved in the incident.
The Delta State Police Command has emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that all suspects will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Authorities are appealing to members of the public with any information about the whereabouts of the remaining suspect to come forward and assist security operatives in ensuring justice is served.
