In a distressing development last night, armed bandits targeted a private residence in Kururawa community, Lakwaya district, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State. During the violent intrusion, the suspects abducted an elderly resident, Alhaji Yakubu Na Tsohuwa, and injured his eldest son, Badamasi, who attempted to resist the assailants.

Sources from the community told Stone Reporters that the attack came as a shock to residents, as Kururawa has not previously experienced such violent incidents. Many locals are now questioning why banditry has escalated to their community, raising concerns about the widening reach of criminal networks across Kano State.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers acted swiftly and with precision, entering the residence under the cover of darkness. “It was terrifying. They were very organized. My father tried to confront them, but they overpowered him and took him away,” one family member recounted.

Community leaders have appealed to Kano State security authorities for immediate intervention, urging rapid deployment of personnel to Kururawa and surrounding areas to prevent further attacks. They also called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

This incident underscores the increasing audacity of bandit groups in northern Nigeria, as previously peaceful communities are now being drawn into the ongoing wave of kidnappings and violent raids. Security experts warn that without sustained military and police action, more rural and semi-urban communities could face similar attacks.

Stone Reporters commends the swift reporting by local residents and stresses the need for continued vigilance, stronger intelligence gathering, and timely response by security forces to protect vulnerable communities in Kano State.
