Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have reportedly arrested a notorious criminal and gang leader, identified as Emeka Igwe, alias “Odogwu,” at the Toyota bus-stop along Oshodi–Mile 2 Road, Lagos. According to initial reports from local law-enforcement circles, the suspect was apprehended while in possession of three locally made “sophisticated” pistols.

The arrest follows actionable intelligence that prompted a police sweep of the busy bus-stop. The seizure of multiple firearms suggests that Igwe was potentially involved in armed robbery, cult-related crime, or other violent activities — a behaviour pattern consistent with past operations by the RRS at the same location, which periodically nets suspects with illegal weapons and ammunition.

Authorities have not yet released a full statement detailing the suspect’s criminal background, the nature of the weapons recovered, or the next steps in terms of prosecution and investigation. The lack of an official communiqué means that key details — including whether the pistols were loaded, how many rounds were recovered, and whether other suspects were arrested — remain unconfirmed.

Nonetheless, this arrest is being touted by law-enforcement as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb violent crime along major transport corridors in Lagos, especially around high-traffic transit points like Oshodi and Mile 2. Earlier RRS successes at the same bus-stop — including the interception of armed robbers and cult suspects — underscore the squad’s renewed focus on intelligence-driven policing and proactive patrols.

As investigations proceed, many residents and commercial commuters in Oshodi hope that such law-enforcement actions will help restore safety and reduce the persistent threat of armed crime in these high-density transit areas.
