Abuja, Nigeria — Troops operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully thwarted an attempted attack by armed bandits in Maraban Rido community, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, neutralising one suspected terrorist during a targeted security operation.
Security sources disclosed that the raid was carried out following actionable intelligence indicating that armed bandits were planning an attack on the community. Acting swiftly, troops moved into the area and engaged the suspects, leading to the neutralisation of one terrorist while others fled the scene under pressure from the advancing forces.
The operation, according to the sources, effectively disrupted the bandits’ plans and prevented what could have resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property. Residents of Maraban Rido were said to have expressed relief following the intervention, as calm was restored to the area shortly after the encounter.
Military authorities noted that the success of the operation underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to deny criminal groups freedom of movement and operational space across Kaduna State and neighbouring areas affected by banditry.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which covers parts of the North-West and North-Central regions, has intensified offensive patrols and intelligence-led raids in recent weeks as part of broader measures to curb armed violence, protect civilian populations and dismantle terrorist and bandit networks.
Residents were urged to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help prevent attacks and enhance community safety.
