The Dangote Group has formalised a major strategic cooperation agreement with XCMG Construction Machinery Co. Ltd, a leading Chinese manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, in a move designed to enhance infrastructure delivery, industrial capacity and sustainable project development across Africa. The agreement was announced in a joint statement by the Dangote Group and XCMG, reflecting both companies’ intent to pursue long‑term collaboration across multiple sectors.
Under the terms of the cooperation, Dangote Group and XCMG will work together in mining, petrochemicals, building materials, agriculture and large‑scale infrastructure construction. XCMG will leverage its African sales and service network to support Dangote’s operational needs, while facilitating technical exchanges, personnel training visits to China, and logistical assistance for integrated project execution.
The partnership emphasises sustainability and innovation, with both firms committing to the joint development of greener machinery and solutions, including electric and new‑energy equipment, intelligent technologies and benchmarks that reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs. XCMG is expected to deploy dedicated project teams to develop customised equipment and service solutions to support Dangote’s expansive projects, particularly in open‑pit mining, petrochemicals and agricultural processing.
Speaking on the collaboration, Dangote Group highlighted its ambition to deepen industrial capacity across Africa, aligning with regional development priorities and its broader growth strategy. XCMG, meanwhile, sees the partnership as an opportunity to expand its footprint and service offerings on the continent, contributing to sustainable industrial development and infrastructure enhancement.
The agreement formalises a framework for closer cooperation based on mutual trust and shared development objectives, providing preferential considerations for both parties in forthcoming projects subject to applicable laws and policies. Observers note that this deal positions both entities to play substantial roles in the future of Africa’s industrialisation and infrastructure landscape.
The Dangote–XCMG cooperation builds on prior engagement between African industrialists and global equipment manufacturers, but stands out for its emphasis on green and intelligent technologies at a time when both environmental sustainability and infrastructure expansion are central to economic growth across the continent.
