Parts of Lagos, particularly the Lekki corridor, experienced temporary flooding and severe traffic congestion following heavy rainfall over the weekend. Motorists reported long delays as floodwaters submerged key roads and intersections, while low-lying areas in the district became partially inaccessible.

Local authorities have assured residents that the situation is short-term and that waters are gradually receding. The Lagos State Government urged motorists to exercise caution, avoid flooded routes where possible, and follow traffic management directives issued by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and emergency services.

Officials also emphasized that the state’s drainage systems are being monitored, and emergency teams have been deployed to clear blocked channels to prevent further accumulation of rainwater. Residents were advised to remain vigilant but were reassured that normal traffic flow is expected to resume as floodwaters subside.
