ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna State, as Renewed Hope Ambassador and Deputy Director-General for party outreach, engagement, and mobilisation under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The appointment takes immediate effect, according to a statement released on February 17, 2026.

In announcing the decision, the presidency highlighted Governor Sani’s leadership experience and organisational capabilities as critical to strengthening the party’s engagement and mobilisation efforts nationwide. The new role places Sani in close coordination with the director-general of the Renewed Hope Ambassador initiative, the APC leadership, and the national chairman, with a mandate to promote party unity, strategic coordination, and inclusiveness.

As Renewed Hope Ambassador and Deputy DG, Sani is expected to galvanise support for the APC by promoting its programmes, policies, and achievements across all regions. The office is also charged with ensuring that citizens understand and ultimately back the party and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a letter accompanying the appointment, President Tinubu emphasized the strategic importance of preparation and effective leadership in achieving broad national acceptance for the party. “The overall objective of your appointment is to ensure that the entire citizenry is aware of, understands, and ultimately supports our party and its candidates at all levels for broad national acceptance in the 2027 election. Preparation is critical and essential to achieving this outcome, and your leadership will be central to guiding this process effectively and strategically,” the president wrote.

The statement announcing the appointment was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. It positions Governor Sani at the forefront of the APC’s mobilisation machinery, marking a significant political role as the party ramps up activities ahead of the 2027 election cycle.

Political analysts note that the appointment signals the president’s confidence in Sani’s ability to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and consolidate support across northern and southern APC strongholds. The role also gives the Kaduna governor expanded national influence within the party hierarchy, reinforcing his visibility ahead of the next election season.

Observers expect that Sani will coordinate nationwide outreach programmes, liaise with state chapters, and engage party stakeholders to ensure coherence in messaging and strategy. His responsibilities include publicising party initiatives, addressing internal disputes, and fostering inclusivity to prevent factionalism within the APC.

This appointment comes as the APC intensifies its organisational structure in preparation for the 2027 elections, underscoring the importance of early planning and coordinated mobilisation in competitive political contests. Analysts say that such strategic placements are designed to ensure alignment between state-level leaders and the national party, enhancing electoral preparedness.

With Governor Sani now holding a dual role as Renewed Hope Ambassador and Deputy Director-General for party mobilisation, the APC leadership anticipates more streamlined outreach efforts and enhanced citizen engagement, particularly in regions critical to the party’s electoral performance.
