The Ogun State Police Command has issued an official update on Abigeal Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel on TikTok, following allegations of rape she made online.
In a statement released on the evening of February 25, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that Nsikak presented herself at a police facility after the allegation gained public attention on social media. According to the statement, she was formally received by officers and subsequently taken to a medical facility for examination as part of standard investigative procedure to verify her claims.
The police indicated that the medical assessment was conducted in line with established protocols in cases involving sexual assault allegations, where forensic and clinical evaluations are considered essential to corroborate testimonies and preserve potential evidence. Authorities did not disclose the specific medical institution involved, citing confidentiality and the ongoing nature of the investigation.
DSP Babaseyi stated that Nsikak has continued to cooperate with investigators as due process unfolds. The Command emphasized that the investigation remains active and that officers are working to gather statements, documentary evidence, and any available digital material related to the allegation.
In consideration of her welfare and support needs, the police confirmed that she has been released into the care of the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The Ministry has assumed responsibility for her well-being and has assured the Police Command that she will be made available whenever required as investigations progress.
Officials explained that transferring alleged victims of sexual violence to specialized state agencies is consistent with safeguarding measures aimed at providing psychosocial support, protection, and counseling. Such agencies typically coordinate access to trauma-informed care, legal advisory services, and, where necessary, safe accommodation.
The police did not provide details about any suspects or confirm whether arrests have been made, noting that public disclosure at this stage could compromise investigative integrity. Authorities reiterated their commitment to handling the matter with professionalism, sensitivity, and adherence to legal standards.
The case has attracted public attention online, particularly given Nsikak’s visibility as a social media personality. Observers note that digital platforms increasingly serve as avenues for reporting allegations, placing additional scrutiny on law enforcement agencies to respond promptly and transparently.
Legal practitioners highlight that rape allegations require meticulous handling to balance the rights of the complainant with those of any accused persons. Investigations typically involve medical reports, witness testimonies, digital communications analysis, and possible forensic examination of devices where relevant.
The Ogun State Police Command urged members of the public to refrain from speculation and to allow the investigative process to run its course. Authorities also cautioned against spreading unverified information that could interfere with proceedings or prejudice potential outcomes.
As the investigation continues, attention remains focused on ensuring both due process and the provision of appropriate support services. The Police Command maintained that it will provide further updates as developments warrant.
