Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Ministry of Education has issued an official statement to address misleading reports circulating online about the operational status of the Aliko Dangote Ultra‑Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano State. The Ministry clarified that the centre is fully functional and actively providing training under the government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET II – IDEAS) Programme.

Since November 2025, the centre has enrolled approximately 300 trainees who are undergoing training in areas including Leather Works, Solar Photovoltaic Installation, and Hospitality Services. The programme is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship, supporting the country’s broader agenda for workforce development.

The Ministry confirmed that the centre has received all agreed funding to support programme delivery and that trainees receive monthly stipends to assist them during their training period. To verify the reports circulating online, a delegation mandated by the 8th National Council on Skills visited the centre on 30 March 2026. The inspection confirmed that all trainees are actively participating in their training and that the centre is operating as scheduled.

The Ministry also highlighted the long-term commitment of Aliko Dangote, who has pledged to manage the facility for 20 years and to expand its capacity to accommodate more trainees in the future.

Officials urged the public to disregard misinformation and rely on official communications regarding the status of national education and skills development institutions. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to expanding quality skills acquisition centres nationwide, ensuring young people are equipped with the tools needed for gainful employment and national development.
