Edo Police Arrest Three Suspected Kidnappers in Jattu After Victim Spots Them at Market

The Edo State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area, following a tip-off from a victim who was abducted and later released days earlier. The arrest, which took place on 15 May 2026 at about 5:50 p.m., came after the Divisional Police Officer of Jattu Division received credible intelligence that one of the suspects responsible for the abduction of a woman named Ibrahim Jemila had been sighted at Jattu Market. Acting swiftly, police operatives mobilised in collaboration with members of the Edo State Security Corps and stormed the location, where three suspects were apprehended.

The suspects were identified as Nura Dahiru, 22; Ibrahim Yakubu, 25; and Abubakar Inusa, 23. During the course of investigation, two of the suspects – Nura Dahiru and Ibrahim Yakubu – were positively identified by the victim, Jemila, and one other person as members of the kidnapping gang responsible for their abduction. The victim had been abducted earlier and was released on 13 May 2026. The third suspect, Abubakar Inusa, was also arrested in connection with the crime, though his specific role has not been fully disclosed as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, praised the operatives for their swift response and reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements. He urged members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to the police through the command’s emergency control room numbers (08077773721 and 08037646272) as well as the Public Complaints Bureau (08150999335) and the Complaints Response Unit (08100389992). The suspects remain in police custody as investigations into the kidnapping gang’s activities progress.
