Troops Arrest Two Suspected Terrorist Informants in Akure North, Hand Them to Amotekun for Investigation

Troops of 32 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have arrested two suspected terrorists’ informants during an offensive operation in the forested areas of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Military sources said the operation was conducted at about 9:30 a.m. on Monday, 25 May 2026, in communities including Itagbolu, Iju, Igbogun Iju and Iju Alagbun. The operation formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and enhance security within the area.

The sources disclosed that two suspected informants linked to terrorist activities were apprehended during the operation. They have been handed over to the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, for further investigation and necessary action.

The development comes days after troops arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP spy in Garaha, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
