The Ogun State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including a father and his son, and recovered four firearms in a series of coordinated intelligence‑led operations across different divisions of the state. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi (also referred to as CSP Omolola Odutola in some reports), disclosed this in a statement made available to the press on Friday, May 29, 2026, noting that the operations also led to the recovery of a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at N180,000 and one live cartridge.

The first operation was carried out by operatives of the Afon Division, who arrested a father, Fatai Adegbola, and his 23‑year‑old son, Waliu Adegbola, following a report of theft received on May 22, 2026. According to the police, Waliu allegedly stole a Tecno Android phone worth N180,000 from a residential apartment on May 8, 2026. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives tracked and recovered the stolen phone. Subsequently, a search of the suspects’ residence – conducted after obtaining a valid search warrant – led to the discovery of a locally made pistol and a Dane gun allegedly concealed within the premises.

In a second operation, operatives of the Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol at the Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m.. The firearm was found abandoned and was immediately secured by the patrol team. The police noted that the exhibit has been deposited in the division’s armoury for safe custody, while investigation is ongoing to trace its origin and ownership.

The third operation saw operatives of the Ode Remo Division arrest Inioluwa Adesanya, 25, in connection with the theft of a Dane gun belonging to a resident of Ode Remo. Police investigations revealed that the suspect gained access to the complainant’s residence under the guise of being a carpenter’s assistant engaged for renovation work and subsequently stole the firearm. During interrogation, Adesanya confessed to the offence and admitted affiliation with the Aye confraternity, further stating that the weapon was modified for concealment purposes. The recovered Dane gun has been secured as an exhibit, while the suspect remains in custody pending transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for discreet investigation and prosecution.

All the cases and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the SCID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism, swift response and effective intelligence‑led policing, reaffirming the command’s commitment to sustained operations against violent crime, cultism, armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms across the state.
