Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspected notorious cultists linked to cult‑related violence, thuggery and other criminal activities within Alimosho and its environs, recovering two firearms, ten live cartridges and a jack knife during a covert operation in the Egbeda area. The suspects, identified as Nurudeen Ganiu, 34; Oluwaleke Fagbula, 38; Emmanuel Silas, 41; and Nurudeen Abdullahi, 41, were apprehended following credible intelligence that a cult group was conducting an initiation ceremony at midnight within the Egbeda area of Lagos State.

Acting on the intelligence, police operatives launched a covert operation that culminated in the arrest of the four suspects. During the operation, one locally made cut‑to‑size pistol, one English Beretta pistol loaded with ten live ammunition and a jack knife were recovered from the suspects. Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects is a notorious cult gang kingpin and a rusticated student of a university in Ogun State, who was allegedly expelled in 2022 due to cult‑related activities. Investigations also established that the gang has been involved in thuggery and has been terrorising residents of Egbeda and its environs for some time.

The suspects reportedly confessed to being active members of the Eiye Confraternity, a notorious secret cult group. According to the police, the gang operates by using motorcycles to launch attacks on unsuspecting members of the public and disrupt gatherings at gunpoint. The four suspects were taken into custody and are currently undergoing further investigation. They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, which led to the successful operation. He reassured residents that the command remains steadfast in its resolve to combat cultism and all forms of violent crimes across the state. He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting the police with timely and credible information through the command’s emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929. The arrest marks another significant breakthrough in the command’s ongoing efforts to rid Lagos of cultism and violent criminality.
