In a dramatic turn of events, several captives have successfully escaped from their bandit abductors and have reached Kungurki community in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The escape, which occurred today, June 25, 2026, has triggered an urgent appeal for family members and the public to come forward to help identify and reunite the survivors with their loved ones.
According to initial information, the escapees made a daring dash for freedom from their captors, navigating through treacherous terrain to reach safety. The precise number of those who escaped has not been confirmed, but it is believed to be at least eight individuals. They are currently being sheltered and provided with initial care by members of the Kungurki community.
Recognising the urgency of reuniting the survivors with their families, local authorities have released contact numbers to facilitate the identification process.
