The Ondo State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its relentless fight against kidnapping and violent crimes with the arrest and prosecution of four suspected members of a criminal syndicate linked to the kidnapping of Kehinde Yisa and the murder of another victim, identified as Bako, aged 50, in Ago Baale, Idoani, on March 3, 2026.

In a press release issued on Thursday, June 25, 2026, the command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the case, initially reported and investigated at the Idoani Division, was subsequently transferred to the Command's Anti-Kidnapping Squad for discreet and intensive investigation. Acting on credible intelligence, forensic tracking and technical analysis, operatives embarked on a coordinated interstate operation that extended beyond Ondo State into Oyo and Ogun States, where efforts were concentrated on identifying and apprehending key members of the criminal network.

The painstaking investigation yielded positive results as operatives successfully arrested four principal suspects identified as Umar Ibrahim (23), Musa Abdullateef (26), Ojo Sikiru (40), and Oseni Waheed (43). While Ibrahim, Abdullateef, and Sikiru were apprehended in different locations within Oyo State, Waheed was arrested in Ogun State following intelligence-led surveillance and tracking. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects made confessional statements, admitting their respective roles in the conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder of their victims.

The successful operation underscores the Command's commitment to intelligence-driven policing and effective collaboration among law enforcement agencies across state boundaries. It also highlights the growing capacity of the Ondo State Police Command in the deployment of modern investigative techniques, including forensic analysis and technological tools, in tracking and apprehending criminal elements irrespective of their location.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for their professionalism and dedication in pursuing the suspects across multiple states until justice was achieved. He reiterated the Command's determination to sustain the ongoing offensive against kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, and other violent crimes threatening the safety and security of residents.

Following the conclusion of investigations, all four suspects have been charged to court for prosecution in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to identify, track and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate who may remain at large, with a view to bringing every person connected to the crime to justice.

The Ondo State Police Command assures residents that it remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property and urges members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information capable of preventing crime and facilitating the arrest of criminal elements operating within and outside the state.
